Park City Reunion 2017 Let's Get Started

The Fred Daly Family Reunion 2017 - Park City, Utah.
So we've had this on the calendar for way over a year. It felt like it would never come. But it finally did. Fred and I headed out and stopped immediately for free breakfast sandwiches at Chick Fil A in St. George. I post this because, well it was just kind of awesome.
First of all, the food was actually pretty yummo and a great price.
 Second, look at the receipt.
How smart is this company?
Now I know how they find you to bring you your food.
Duh? Why aren't other places paying attention?
There is a super huge gap in stuff going on before this, but photo taking was not happening.
Buying food and lugging ten tons of luggage and crap to the room happened first.
But we won't go into that. It was kind of a pain. The Westgate Resort is kind of a maze and a pretty stupid design as far as getting from the parking garage to your rooms. But by the time the kids starting arriving we had it figured out.

Shannon and Brian arrived first Saturday evening. I don't remember much now what took place.
We'll just skip to Sunday morning here.
Shannon and Brian planned on attending Sacrament meeting somewhere here in Park City.
Before they left for an 11 block, we walked up to the Gondola for a free ride.
Here is our selfie from up in the gondola.
Corinne and Ben's family arrived after their church meetings. We hit the gondola again.
I'm glad we did because we didn't know that the gondolas are only open on the weekends.
Here's Ben & Corinne with Garrett & Henry.
 Richard and Spencer.
 Mr. Cutie Pie Grandpa!!!
Brian's younger brother Aaron and his wife and their family came for dinner and to hang out for a while. We all ate tacos.
Then there was some playing at the playground.
Corinne's family did some swimming too.
I think I'll identify everyone to begin with.
Richard with Corinne & Ben.
 Corinne (obviously) and Henry.
Part of the pool is covered and the other half is open.
The water was VERY WARM. Actually too warm considering the whole time we were in Park City it was in the 90s. A little bit disappointed in the weather. We were hoping for a little reprieve.
Garrett on the left and Spencer on the right.
Day Number One Over and Out.

A day at Cedar Breaks

Over the Memorial Day weekend, we wanted to go see a National Park that we haven't been to yet.
We decided on Cedar Breaks. I didn't want to spend the whole day in the car.
We had planned on arriving at our destination and then getting out and walking any trails that might be nearby. It was about 11:00 AM when we left home. Fred planned for us to take jackets, but as it seems lately we get out the door and forget things,
Jackets were forgotten,

We stopped at the Brian Head Resort. We like to take pictures of where we are. Since there is no sound to attach to my blog we can't narrate our travels. :)
You can actually drive to the top of this mountain. Not in my car. Fred wants to take his Dad's truck and go up to the top the next time. I'm not too sure about that....
Picture of taking pictures.
I don't feel like any of our pictures do justice to how beautiful it is up there.

Oh so you notice how high in elevation we are? I WAS FREEZING..
We did not do any walking except to take pictures.

I try to remember to take pictures of Fred. He brought his camera and I had my phone.
Most of these photos are from his camera. I think he always takes better pictures than I do.
We stopped in Cedar Cedar first to eat some Subway sandwiches. We had a leftover bag of chips.
It puffed up in the elevation.
It was a very nice day trip. I do love spending this kind of day with Fred.

Wolf Creek with Corinne'sfamily

We had one last bit of credits to use up with our WorldMark Trial. They have a resort up in Eden, Utah. We thought it would be a great way to celebrate Corinne's birthday and Mother's Day with her. We made reservations for a three bedroom up there during the first weekend in May.

It is located up through Ogden Canyon. I took a half day off work so we could get up there by evening. We called Corinne as we neared her home and they basically hit the road and arrived to the parking lot minutes after we arrived.

This is a picture of the resort room where we stayed. On the second floor.

It's really beautiful up here. I know why they called this little town Eden.
We didn't get to our room until around 7:30. So we spent the evening settling in. I didn't take any pictures of the unit we stayed in. It was very nice.We gave Corinne and Ben the master suite upstairs. It had a King size bed and a murphy bed in it so Spencer and Henry slept up there with them. There was a bathroom upstairs and one downstairs. Fred and I took one of the bedrooms downstairs with the queen bed and Richard and Garrett stayed in the room with two twin beds. It worked out just right. We did share a bathroom with these goonies.
For Corinne's birthday there were all kinds of ideas for a gift. Do I get something she needs, or something she wouldn't get for herself or just something fun. I decided something fun.
I found this really cute wind chime at Tai Pan.

This is the start of their walk down to the recreation center to check out the facilities.

Racquetball. Spencer and Ben went back later in the evening to play again.
Always lots of board games to be played. I don't usually play. I like mindless games. No strategy.
They like games that require thinking.
Corinne made us breakfast for dinner. Yummy egg burritos. Ben brought brownies that he made and also ice cream. I was very happy!!
Here is our series of pictures of us taking pictures.

Oh yeah - my wild fingernail polish.
Boys on Tablets.
This is Monopoly. Looked very involved.
Ben playing Four Score with Spencer and Henry.
It's over already. It went by pretty quickly, but really a nice get together.
This three bedroom unit worked out perfect for us.
Plenty of good food and I don't think anyone got bored.
Next get together - Fourth of July.

Easter in Las Vegas

I can't really think of a better oxymoron than Easter in Las Vegas.
But that is what Fred and I did. We had originally planned on going to San Diego to celebrate our 38th wedding anniversary, but Shannon and her family had Spring Break and wanted to come so we didn't mind changing our plans. I really didn't want to drive all the way to San Diego for a short weekend trip anyway. It's too far!

Fred and I had paid for a trial membership to World Mark Resorts when we went to Disneyland with Corinne and Ben way back in September of 2015. Our trial included I think 20,000 credits.
We used some credits when we went to see Scott and Jess in April last year. All four of us stayed at their Resort in New Braunfels and then Fred and I continued on to the cruise to Cozumel.

So back to this.

We drove to Vegas after I got off work on Friday. I don't know why we were rushing to get out of the door. By bedtime both Fred and I realized we forgot some key items. His pajamas and my prescriptions. I usually pack them the night before in my luggage and set out only what I need in the morning. Well I didn't do that. Luckily none of my medicine is life or death and I got along just fine.
It was just annoying that we both managed to forget something this time.

Saturday morning we drove out to Hoover Dam. We just drove over the bridge. It was backed up to actually go down to the dam. Neither of us wanted to wait in the line.
We drove back into Boulder City which is the little town that used to be where the people lived who worked on the dam. We wandered around the street and looked at a few little shops.
We took a picture at the little park just before climbing back in our car.
We drove back into town and parked on the strip. I wanted to ride on the High Roller. It's the big ferris wheel thing. We did absolutely no planning for this trip. So when we saw it was $25 a person. I lost my enthusiasm. Maybe next time when we can get a discount ticket or something. So we left and drove to Town Square right as you enter the Strip and ate at Claim Jumpers.
After dinner, we went back to the Resort and had to change rooms. They couldn't put us up in the same room for two nights. The first night we were on the 4th floor and had a great view of the pool and gardens. The 2nd room the view was a wall.

Next we went to the Las Vegas 51s Triple AAA game. The weather was perfect and it was a good game.
51s won 4-1.

The resort is located just down the street from one of the big Outlet Malls. This mall is where we would go eat whenever we came to visit Shannon. She worked just around the corner. It was all very nostalgic. I had to take a picture of Chipotle. This is where Shannon took us to eat one and it was our first time eating at a Chipotle.
We checked out of room at noon and headed home.
Not death defying excitement, but I always love to get away with Fred.
Next Vegas trip we well plan ahead.
